The first period saw everything go right for the Silvertips. Swift Current had control for the first two minutes and then it was all Silvertips for the remainder of the period. Matt Fonteyne beat Stuart Skinner, high glove from the left circle after receiving a nice saucer pass from Sean Richards to make it 1-0 Tips at 3:14 with the secondary assist from Ondrej Vala.

Shortly after, Connor Dewar and Tanner Nagel took liberties with each other and both went for for roughing. As 4-on-4 was about to end, Heponiemi went off for interference giving Everett seconds of 4-on-3 power play before going to 5-on-4. Everett looked tremendous on the power play and did just about everything except score; Skinner made a few brilliant saves for the Broncos. After the penalty expired, Martin Fasko-Rudas wristed a bad angle shot on Skinner that hit his glove and tipped in behind him to make it 2-0 Tips at 10:11, thanks to a nice pass by Ian Walker to get the play started.

The Tips made it 3-0 at 14:26 as Ondrej Vala got a pass from the defensive zone up to Garrett Pilon who carried it into the offensive zone and fired the puck at the net, which was deflected in by Riley Sutter. The period ended with Sutter taking a slashing penalty at 19:20 and the Tips going on the penalty kill. Things were mostly quiet for Carter Hart but he stopped all 10 shots that he faced and Everett had 17 shots in the first.

Swift Current got on the board as Matteo Gennaro snuck a loose puck past Hart to make it 3-1 at 8:17. Everett had another power play opportunity at 13:23 but were unable to capitalize although they cycled quite well. Gianni Fairbrother took a tripping penalty with 40 seconds left in second and Dewar had a great shorthanded opportunity stopped by Skinner. Carter Hart made 8 saves in the second and Skinner stopped all 12 that he faced.

The third period began with the Tips on the penalty kill and they were able to kill the penalty with ease. Everett continued to put good pressure on the Broncos but Skinner came up huge for his team, including stopping two back to back point blank shots by Dewar and Sutter. Colby Sissions got the second goal for Swift Current at 6:22 as he fired a loose puck in the slot, through traffic to make it 3-2. The Broncos saw more life after their second goal and got more cycle time in the Everett zone but did not throw many shots on Hart. The Broncos pulled Skinnner with about two minutes to go and Tyler Steenbergen got the tying goal at 18:23 to send the game into overtime. Carter Hart made 12 saves in the third and Skinner stopped all 7 Everett shots.

Everett put a lot of pressure on Swift to begin OT and got a couple of great chances off the bat but Skinner made some tough saves to keep the Broncos in it. The Broncos had a bad turnover in the neutral zone but left the Tips scrambling and unable to fire a high quality shot to end the game. Giogorio Estephan then tracked to the net and got a rebound past Hart at 9:25 to send the series back to Everett tied.
