TONIGHT’S MATCHUP
The Silvertips finish the Delta Hotels Preseason Classic tonight at XFINITY Arena, hosting the U.S. Division rival Portland Winterhawks in the only preseason meeting. A total of 16 Tips suited up on last year’s team that captured their fifth U.S. Division championship. Carter Hart (2nd round, Philadelphia) is one of five goaltenders on the Tips preseason roster. Patrick Bajkov (NHL camp / Vegas Golden Knights) returns after leading the Silvertips in scoring last year with 78 points in 71 games. Matt Fonteyne leads the Tips in preseason scoring with five points in four games.

LAST NIGHT (EVT 7 – SEA 4):

Matt Fonteyne had a goal and two assists, while Connor Dewar scored twice as the Everett Silvertips unloaded five goals in the final 12:33 on the Seattle Thunderbirds for a 7-4 victory on Saturday in the night game of the Delta Hotels Pre-Season Classic at XFINITY Arena. Earning their first preseason win under head coach Dennis Williams, the Silvertips erased a 4-2 deficit in the third period with 18 shots on goal in the final 20 minutes. A total of 13 different players earned a point in an Everett sweater, and 2001-born goaltender Danton Belluk, who stopped 13 of 14 shots in the final 29 minutes, earned the victory in net.

NOTES ON THE PORTLAND WINTERHAWKS
Led by head coach Mike Johnston, returning for the second year of his second stint with the organization … the Winterhawks advanced to the second round of postseason play last year with a record of 40-28-1-3 (84 points) … among the returning notables are Cody Glass (Vegas Golden Knights – 6th overall) and Skyler McKenzie (Winnipeg Jets), selected in last summer’s NHL Entry Draft after combining for 188 points in the regular season … new winger Kieffer Bellows, who left Boston University to join Portland, was selected 19th overall by the New York Islanders in the 2016 draft … Portland comes off a 9-3 defeat to Tri-City in the Saturday morning game of the tourney.
