EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips) with select players and staff are participating in the annual fundraising event “Movember,” encouraging fans to contribute with donations for moustaches grown or a physically active lifestyle led by the Silvertips to raise awareness and funds for men’s health. In conjunction with the event, the Silvertips will host “Movemberfest” presented by Erickson Furniture at XFINITY Arena on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 7:05 p.m. against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
Movemberfest presented by Erickson Furniture brings all Silvertips fans together to XFINTY Arena and an up-to-date event on the development of Silvertips facial hair and fundraising. Special $24 tickets are available for the game exclusively at the Silvertips website, offering a lower level ticket, t-shirt, and a special beer tasting card offering fans in attendance a chance to participate in a special craft and season beer lineup, presented on 12 different taps.
An exclusive group ticket offer, suitable for 10 or more, provides savings off the individual ticket price by calling Tia Dutton in the Silvertips offices at (425) 609-2811.
An annual event in November which has included participation from teams across the Canadian Hockey League and professionally with the National Hockey League, several members of the Silvertips will be growing moustaches, leading calls to action for a healthy lifestyle, and soliciting pledges to assist in raising awareness and funds for men’s health through Nov. 30.
Donations for individual Silvertips pledges are accepted online only through Movember’s website, in association with a team page established by the Silvertips. Funds raised through the campaign benefit the Movember Foundation, a global charity advocating men and generating funds for men’s health through the experience of happier, healthier and longer lives by investing in medical treatment for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, underprivileged mental health, and physical activity.
The Silvertips Movember page is located at the bottom.
In coordination with the campaign, select Silvertips players and coaching staff participating will each grow a moustache for the entire month or actively campaign for a healthy, active lifestyle for visual awareness of the movement. Fans interested in assisting with the campaign can donate to their individual of choice or the team’s overall campaign page, and register with Movember while joining the Silvertips page to solicit pledges themselves.
Men and women participating in the Movember campaign are asked to assist by growing mustaches, hosting an event, or participating in an active lifestyle for 30 days during the month. Through the power of the moustache, awareness and funds are raised for men’s health, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives. “Mo Bros” effectively become walking, talking billboards throughout the month, inspiring conversation about around the often ignored issue of men’s health and seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.
The Silvertips return to play Friday, visiting the Portland Winterhawks at Veterans Memorial Coliseum, starting at 7:00 p.m. (Fox Sports 1380 / WHL Live / Tips App).
