TONIGHT’S MATCHUP AND SERIES NOTES

Second of three matchups in the preseason between the Silvertips and Seattle Thunderbirds … a renewal of the closest rivalry in the U.S. Division by geography, separation of 45 miles between Everett and Kent, Wash. … the Silvertips were defeated, 5-4 in overtime in the first meeting on Sept. 1 … the Silvertips are 1-1-0-0 on the road in the preseason … Seattle is making their home preseason debut … the Silvertips went 6-2-0-2 last season against the Thunderbirds in the regular season, and defeated Seattle 4-1 in the opening round of the WHL Playoffs.

 

LAST GAME

EVT 4 – VAN 0 (9-9-18): Dustin Wolf earned his second shutout in his second consecutive preseason start, while Gage Goncalves bagged a pair of goals to help lead the Everett Silvertips to a 4-0 victory over the Vancouver Giants in a preseason tournament on Sunday at Langley Events Centre … successfully bouncing back from a defeat on Saturday against the Victoria Royals, the Tips buried three goals in rapid fashion during the first period, including Ronan Seeley’s first to start the scoring … Gianni Fairbrother finished off the scoring in the third period while the defending Western Conference champs improved to 2-1-1-1 for the seven-game preseason schedule.

Both Silvertips Western Conference championships have been clinched on the road, and in sudden death overtime … Jeff Schmidt helped the Silvertips (in their expansion year) defeat the Kelowna Rockets, 4-3 in the 2004 series in a 2-1 overtime win at Prospera Place … Kevin Davis clinched the title this season in Game 6 at Toyota Center, 6-5 in overtime in Game 6 over the Tri-City Americans for a 4-2 series victory on Apr. 30.
