RECAP: Royal 3rd Period Pain


VICTORIA, British Columbia – The Silvertips were shut out by Griffen Outhouse and the Royals cruised to a 5-0 victory in the first match-up since the 2017 playoffs in front of a crowd of 5,207 at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

The first period saw a tight defensive battle between the two teams as both goaltenders were strong and made impressive stops. Both teams exchanged power plays yet came up empty and the first period was scoreless. Everett had 12 shots vs. Victoria’s 7 in the first.

The second period continued as almost a carbon copy of the elimination game during the 2017 playoffs against the Royals; both goaltenders were outstanding and the teams were not allowing many chances.

The Royals broke the scoreless tie at 16:05 with a goal from Braydon Buziak, making it 1-0 Royals. Everett had the shot edge with 10 shots versus Victoria’s 9.

The third period was were the game got away from the Silvertips. Jeff De Wit scored the insurance goal 17 seconds into the third to make it 2-0 Royals.

The Royals added another pair of goals at 7:51 from Dante Hannoun and Matthew Phillips at 9:37 to make it 4-0. Despite actually having a rather impressive start, the quick succession of goals caused Wolf to be relieved by Donton Belluk. This was Belluk’s first shot in net since opening night in Everett.

The Royals got their final tally 17:40 from Andrei Grishokov to make it 5-0 Royals.

Griffen Outhouse collected his second shutout of the evening with 36 saves.
