RECAP / Royal Flush

VICTORIA, B.C. – Noah Juulsen, playing in his 200th career game and in his home province, delivered a two goal effort while Dominic Zwerger registered a multi-point game and Carter Hart stopped 37 shots in a 3-1 victory for the Everett Silvertips over the Victoria Royals before 4,424 at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Saturday.

The victory ended a stretch of six road games out of seven overall, covering over 2,600 miles of travel through 14 days in which the Silvertips went 5-1-1 and held onto first place in the U.S. Division. The Silvertips, ending a four-game losing streak to Victoria, improved to 6-1-2 on the road.

Juulsen blasted a shot from the right point through traffic for a 1-0 lead at 14:46, set up by Dominic Zwerger. The lead held up until Regan Nagy deflected Jared Dmytriw’s shot past Hart on the power play at 4:05 of the second period, tying the game at 1-1.

The Silvertips, unfazed and facing 10 shots in the middle frame, stabilized the momentum (with the help of Hart who had a pair of difficult saves on Dante Hannoun) and took advantage of open ice for the 2-1 lead. Patrick Bajkov wired a cross-ice pass to Zwerger, who streaked down the left wing and snuck a wraparound past Griffen Outhouse at 13:25.

Victoria pumped 20 shots on net in the third period, but Hart got in the way of everything and Juulsen slammed the door with a near 200 foot lob to an empty net at 19:18 for the 3-1 advantage.

Outhouse took the loss with 10 saves.

The Silvertips now enjoy time off until next Thursday, when they return to play at home against the Tri-City Americans at 7:05 p.m. (1380 AM / WHL Live / Tips App). Silvertips radio voice Mike Benton has the call, starting with the Everett Bone and Joint Pregame Show. Tickets are on sale at (Midweek Madness).
