EVERETT, Wash. – A four-point night from Portland Winterhawks import-forward Joachim Blichfeld (2G, 2A), along with a goal and an assist from Portland defenseman Brendan De Jong provided enough offense for the Winterhawks to defeat the Everett Silvertips, 4-1, in front of 4,378 at A.O.T.W. Arena in downtown Everett on Saturday.

Bryce Kindopp scored his second goal in as many games for the Silvertips, a shorthanded breakaway while Dustin Wolf turned in a 27 save effort to keep the game close before Joachim Blichfeld’s pair of empty netters.
Winterhawks defenseman Brendan De Jong started the game off with a slapper from the top of the left circle, off a pass from Golden Knights prospect Cody Glass and import forward Joachim Blichfeld, to put Portland up 1-0 at 7:58 in the first.
A high stick penalty called on Silvertips forward Reece Vitelli at 8:10 made way for Bryce Kindopp’s shorthanded breakaway goal at 8:51 to tie the game, 1-1 as he beat Farkas to the glove side.
At 12:40 into the first, Portland 2002-born forward Seth Jarvis put the Winterhawks up 2-1 as he pounded a rebound past Everett goaltender Dustin Wolf at 12:40, assisted by Blichfeld and De Jong.
The first period concluded with Portland forward Mason Mannek hauled away for tripping at 18:00.
A scoreless second period was defined by penalties, as each team split two penalties a side. Portland forward Lane Gilliss started the second period with a slash at 2:51. The Winterhawk penalties continued as they were called for too many men at 6:37, served by 2002-born forward Robbie Fromm-Delorme. Silvertips rookie Gage Goncalves spent two minutes in the box for a holding penalty called at 9:48.
The penalties continued into the third period as De Jong was called for cross-checking at 11:11. Under two minutes later, Silvertips forward Vitelli was hauled off for hooking while on an aggressive forecheck in the corner.
A Portland tripping penalty was called at 15:38, Portland defenseman John Ludvig gave the Silvertips another power play opportunity.
The Silvertips pulled Wolf with 1:28 remaining, which led to Blichfeld’s empty net goal at 18:54 into the third.
The net remained empty as Blichfeld tallied on yet another empty-netter off a pass from Glass.
In a game with 11 total penalties, the Silvertips power play told the tale of the loss they went zero-for-six with the man advantage. Meanwhile, the Winterhawks went one-for-five on the power play.
