See Wyatte Wylie + Ceremonial First Pitch Aug. 22 with the AquaSox


EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips), defending and two-time Western Conference champions and six time U.S. Division champions of the Western Hockey League, announced today that defenseman Wyatte Wylie will participate in the ceremonial first pitch on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at Everett Memorial Stadium, home of the Everett AquaSox, who will take on the Spokane Indians at 7:05 p.m.

For the rare opportunity to welcome back Wylie to Snohomish County in a baseball setting, one day before the start of 2018-19 training camp, all fans are encouraged to attend the game in Silvertips apparel and jerseys. Entering his third full season as a Silvertip blueliner, Wylie was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the fifth round (127th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft and is the first Everett born player in history to be selected in the NHL Draft with development experience in Everett Youth Hockey, the Jr. Silvertips program, and in the WHL as a Silvertip player. Before starting his WHL career, Wylie additionally suited up for one season in 2015-16 with the Dallas Stars U16 program.

Wylie, 18, comes off career highs in points (31), goals (6), assists (25), and plus-minus (+12) while never missing a game all season, sharing the Silvertips Iron Man award and claiming the Silvertips Most Improved Player award for 2017-18. His eight points (2g-6a) in 22 playoff games were tied for 10th among WHL defenseman, while ranking among WHL defensemen in the postseason: fourth in shots (47), and tied for fourth in plus-minus (+12).

Wylie was one of three Silvertips listed in the final rankings by NHL Central Scouting prior to the draft, and joins teammates Connor Dewar (third round, Minnesota) and Riley Sutter (third round, Washington) as the most Silvertips taken in the NHL Draft since 2010.

The 1999-born defenseman (late birth year category) has 143 games of WHL experience, all with the Silvertips, collecting six goals and 35 assists and a +9 rating. He helped guide the Tips to their second Western Conference title and berth in the WHL Championship Series last season, and has eight points in 33 career postseason games.

The AquaSox are the Class A Short Season affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.

Silvertips 2018 Training Camp will open at Angel of the Winds Arena on Thursday, Aug. 23 with the first scrimmage scheduled at 11:00 a.m. (free of charge to the public). Opening the Silvertips home schedule, which covers 34 games this season at Angel of the Winds Arena, is Opening Night against the Vancouver Giants on September 22 at 7:05 p.m. All fans will also witness the raising of the Silvertips sixth U.S. Division championship banner and second Western Conference championship banner to the rafters before the opening puck drop, and the first 5,000 fans at the doors will receive a collectible Silvertips magnet schedule, presented by Lamoureux Real Estate and Sound Transit. Opening Night for the Tips 2018-19 season is Friday, Sept. 21 at Vancouver (7:35 p.m., 1380 AM / 95.3 FM KRKO).

The Silvertips will open the 2018-19 preseason schedule with the Delta Hotels Preseason Classic on Aug. 31 at Angel of the Winds Arena, 7:00 p.m. against the Tri-City Americans.
