SIGNED » Patrick Bajkov, Florida Panthers

EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips), proud member of the Western Hockey League announced today that forward Patrick Bajkov has signed a three-year, entry level contract with the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Bajkov, 20, is the Silvertips all-time leader in points (280), goals (109), and is second in assists (171) while playing in all 337 career WHL games in a Silvertips uniform. This season, Bajkov leads the Silvertips and is ninth in the WHL with 92 points in 67 games, also leading the Silvertips and tied for fourth in the WHL for assists (62). His +21 rating is second highest in career history (+23 set in 2016-17).

“It brings tremendous excitement for us to witness this moment in Patrick’s career and we’re extremely proud of him,” said Davidson. “He has elevated his game every year and this season became not just an elite offensive presence for our club, but one across the entire league. When combining talent and dedication, his potential for success at higher levels is great. His progress on the ice is a testimony for current and future players in our program and we look forward to his continued contributions for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs.”

“Patrick is a skilled forward who has earned this contract through hard work and dedication to his game,” said Panthers President of Hockey Operations & General Manager Dale Tallon in a team release. “We are pleased to have signed him and look forward to his continued development in our organization.”

“I’m extremely thankful for my family, the Florida Panthers organization, the Everett Silvertips organization, my billets, and my coaches and trainers in Nanaimo who helped make this day possible,” said Bajkov. “Getting a chance to play under both Kevin Constantine and Dennis Williams in Everett made a huge impact, and it helped me understand what it takes to be a professional, how to be prepared every day you show up at the rink, and work as hard as you can. I’m looking forward to continuing to give my best for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs as a Silvertip and in the future with the Panthers organization.”

Currently third in single season history, his 92 points are one shy of the Silvertips season record shared by Zach Hamill and Joshua Winquist.

The 6-foot, 185 pound forward is a two-time honoree of the Silvertip Iron Man Award and last season earned the Silvertips Top Scorer award with 78 points (29g-49a) in 71 games.

A native of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Bajkov has a pair of hat tricks in his career and tied his career high recently with five points on Feb. 3 when he had three goals and a pair of assists on Feb. 3 vs. Kelowna. On Dec. 2, 2016 he set a Silvertips record for fastest two goals by one player, scored 15 seconds apart in a Silvertips victory over Medicine Hat.

Originally selected by the Silvertips in the sixth round of the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft, Bajkov also skated as a free agent with the Vegas Golden Knights during the 2017-18 training camp period. He is scheduled to continue skating with the Silvertips for the duration of his 20-year old WHL season.
