Six (!!) Silvertips Prospects to Skate in 2016 Challenge Cup
EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips) announced today that six Silvertips prospects, selected in the WHL Bantam Draft, are scheduled to participate in the upcoming 2016 Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup, starting Oct. 19 at the Markin MacPhail Centre in Calgary. The announcement was made in conjunction with the Western Hockey League, in partnership with BC Hockey, Hockey Alberta, Saskatchewan Hockey Association, and Hockey Manitoba as well as in association with Hockey Canada.
The following Silvertips prospects scheduled to participate are:

All six players skated in Everett this preseason during training camp.
ETHAN BROWNE (F)
The 2001-born forward had 77 points (39g-38a) in 36 games last season for the Sherwood Park Flyers Bantam AAA (AMBHL) squad, trailing only Peyton Krebs – the WHL’s first overall selection – in league scoring. Browne signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement with the Silvertips on June 30, is registered as an affiliated player this season on the Silvertips roster and skated with the club in two preseason games. Last season he was tied for second in league scoring, ranked second in goals, and was third in assists while earning Sherwood Park’s Most Valuable Player award. He tied the scoring lead in the Alberta Cup with 10 points (6g-4a) in five games and was second with six goals, scoring in every game.
DYLAN HOLLOWAY (F)
Holloway was 3rd on the Calgary Flames AMBHL squad last season with 31 points in 33 games. He stepped into three games of playoff action with the Northwest Calgary Athletic Association Stampeders (Minor Midget) and was the club’s second leading playoff scorer after just one game of regular season experience.
DANTON BELLUK (G)
Belluk skated with the Silvertips in preseason training camp, and posted a 13-5-0 record in 18 games with the Eastman Selects. He won four of his last five games last season with Eastman, posting a 2.40 goals against average in that span.
MARK LIWISKI (F)
The 2001-born forward was his league’s leader last season in assists (52) and was second in league scoring with 91 points in 35 games, also adding 114 penalty minutes with the Parkland Rangers (WBAAA). His 39 goals tied for the club’s lead.
REECE VITELLI (F)
The 2001-born forward led his club in scoring with 69 points in 34 games with the Winnipeg Warriors last season. His 32 goals were second on the club and his 37 assists ranked third.
ALEX MOAR (D)
The 2001-born defenseman’s season is underway with three assists in his season debut with the Prince Albert Mintos (SMHL). He posted a career high 18 points (8g-10a) in 27 games with Prince Albert (SBAAHL) last season, and led all defensemen with eight goals.
This year’s event will take place from Wednesday, October 19th to Sunday, October 23rd. The Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup will feature the highest-rated players in the under-16 age category from the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The tournament will be a four-team round robin format and is the first step in Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence for players. The majority of players participating in the event will have been selected in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft or have since been listed by WHL Clubs. The Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup has been sponsored since 2009 by the WHL and has been made possible through financial support provided by the WHL, Hockey Manitoba, BC Hockey, Hockey Alberta, Saskatchewan Hockey Association and Hockey Canada.
