EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips) announced application submissions are currently being accepted for the organization’s billet family program, covering the 2017-18 season. New submissions for this season will be coordinated to emphasize optimal placement of high school age players to be enrolled in the Everett School District.
The Silvertips Billet Program is designed to provide its players with a comfortable, safe, and productive living environment for the season, hosted by families within and in close proximity to the city of Everett. Families interested in joining the Silvertips billet program are encouraged to contact Janet Hawes, Silvertips billet coordinator at (425) 252-5100 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
“The Everett Silvertips Billet Program has grown in the last 14 years as a high-class outfit with proof positive results of caretaking for the lives of our players, between ages 16-20,” said Silvertips assistant coach and assistant to the general manger Mitch Love. “Families participating in the program experience the rewards of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to engage and help nurture the talented individuals who bring their developing game to the Everett Silvertips and Western Hockey League. Players emerge from their time here with memories of not just their achievements and teammates, but also the relationships they grow and maintain with their billet parents to this day.”
Families interested in joining the Silvertips Billet Program are asked to open their home to a “room and board” environment and are required to provide a Silvertips player with an individual and fully-dedicated bedroom from the start of training camp until the conclusion of the season, along with availability and resources to provide “home cooked” meals for their player.
In exchange, participating families receive a stipend for groceries, discounted tickets to home games, and invitation to select team events.
Each family applying for the Silvertips Billet Program will undergo a comprehensive screening process and be presented with team guidelines to ensure an effective and safe lifestyle environment for both the player and family.
Opening the home schedule, covering 36 games this season, is Opening Night against the Portland Winterhawks on Saturday, Sept. 23 (7:05 p.m.), when the first 3,000 fans will receive a collectible Silvertips magnet schedule, presented by Lamoureux Real Estate. All fans will also witness the raising of the Silvertips fifth U.S. Division championship banner to the rafters before the opening puck drop. Season Tickets and Mini-Plan Packages (22-game and 14-game selections) are available for as low as a $50 deposit at www.everettsilvertips.com/season.
