Tips Acquire LW Akash Bains From Red Deer


EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips) and general manager Garry Davidson announced today the club has acquired left winger Akash Bains from the Red Deer Rebels in exchange for a sixth round selection in the 2019 WHL Draft.

Bains, 18, had eight goals and 21 points (8g-13a) in 65 games with Red Deer last season and suited up in seven postseason games. The 5-foot-11, 183-pound forward has four assists and six penalty minutes in 18 games with the Rebels this season.

The Delta, British Columbia native was a league champion in back-to-back seasons with Delta Hockey Academy Prep (CSSHL) and was fourth on the program with 38 points in 29 games in 2015-16. Bains was selected in the ninth round by Red Deer in the 2014 WHL Draft.

The Silvertips return to play tomorrow, 7:05 p.m. (1380 AM / WHL Live) against the host Tri-City Americans.
