Tips Recall F Ethan Browne, D Gianni Fairbrother

EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips), five time U.S. Division champions of the Western Hockey League, and general manager Garry Davidson announced today the team has recalled forward Ethan Browne from Sherwood Park Kings (AMHL) and defenseman Gianni Fairbrother from the Vancouver Northwest Giants (BCMML).

Both players join the Silvertips playoff roster, who open the WHL Playoffs on Friday in downtown Everett. Earning the top record in the Western Conference after capturing their fifth U.S. Division title in 14 seasons, the Silvertips open the WHL Playoffs at XFINITY Arena in Game 1 of the first round against the Victoria Royals, starting at 7:35 p.m. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Ticket packs are on sale at

Browne, a 2001-born forward, made his Silvertips debut on Jan. 21 at Tri-City and was +1. Suiting up for the Silvertips during the 2016 preseason, he also helped guide Team Alberta to a championship at the Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup in October, earned three points in four tournament games, and buried a goal in the Gold Medal victory.

The 5-foot-10, 180 pound forward was selected by the Silvertips in the first round (14th overall) of the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft and posted 77 points (39g-38a) in 36 games last season for the Sherwood Park Flyers Bantam AAA (AMBHL) squad, trailing only Peyton Krebs – the WHL’s first overall selection – in league scoring. He was tied for second in league scoring, ranked second in goals, and was third in assists while earning Sherwood Park’s Most Valuable Player award.

Browne this season had 29 points (9g-20a) in 27 games and had 10 penalty minutes with Sherwood Park. His 20 assists ranked third on the club.

Fairbrother, a 2000-born defenseman (late birth year category), has suited up in three games with the Silvertips this season and made his debut last year in the WHL Playoffs, skating in three games against the Seattle Thunderbirds in second round action. He had 20 points (3g-17a) and 17 assists in 36 games with Vancouver this season, ranking third among the club’s defensemen in points and assists.

With the Burnaby Winter Club (CSSHL Elite15s) last season, he was named the league’s Top Defenseman with 18 points (5g-13a) in 35 games. Fairbrother was selected by the Silvertips in the fourth round (80th overall) of the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft.
