Tips Shuffle Roster on Saturday

EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips) announced today that forward Cal Babych has been recalled from the Coquitlam Express (BCHL) and forward Bradly Goethals has been removed from the club’s active roster.

Silvertips general manager Garry Davidson issued the following statement:

“Cal Babych made a terrific impression in the short time originally spent with us and is deserving of this opportunity. We admire his work ethic, attitude, and commitment. Bradly Goethals made significant strides to become a regular in our lineup and made a decision to leave our hockey team for personal reasons. We acknowledge his wishes and priorities, and wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Babych, who turned 20 on Jan. 18, has suited up in two games with the Silvertips and is +1 on the season. He was originally listed by the Silvertips and previously suited up in 152 career games with Calgary, Prince George, Prince Albert and Vancouver, amassing 35 points and 55 penalty minutes along with a +9 rating. He has nine career playoff appearances, split between the Cougars and Raiders.

Currently this season, the 5-foot-10, 179 pound forward is tied for second on the Express in points (29), is tied for the club lead in assists (22) and has seven goals in 36 games. Babych suited up in a WHL career high 56 games last season with Prince Albert, collecting five goals and 14 points along with a +10 rating.

Goethals, originally acquired Oct. 12 by the Silvertips from Brandon in exchange for a conditional seventh round selection in the 2018 Bantam Draft, had six points, four penalty minutes and was minus-2 in 23 games with the Silvertips this season.
