EVERETT, Wash. – Patrick Bajkov earned first star of the game in his 300th career game with two goals and an assist, while Carter Hart turned in 28 saves to lift the Everett Silvertips to a 4-1 victory over the Portland Winterhawks before 3,194 fans at XFINITY Arena on Wednesday evening.
Bajkov teamed with linemates Sean Richards and Matt Fonteyne for seven points total in the game, while the Tips led wire to wire to earn their season high sixth straight win and move into second place in the U.S. Division, one point ahead of Spokane.

After a scoreless first period, the Silvertips broke the game open with three goals in the middle frame. Patrick Bajkov converted Sean Richards’ tape-to-tape pass inside the left circle for a 1-0 lead at 3:48, and Jake Christiansen capitalized off a delay of game penalty to Cole Kehler with a power play goal, 6:13 into the period when he buried a snapper from the top of the left circle.
Gianni Fairbrother and Portland’s Reece Newkirk engaged in a scrap out of the penalty box over 15 minutes in, and the Tips parlayed off the energy with a Matt Fonteyne one-timer between the circles with 3:44 to play, on a set up by Bajkov, for a 3-0 edge.
Carter Hart, who stopped all 22 shots he saw through two periods, made his toughest save on a high-rising snap shot by Kieffer Bellows which clipped the mask with less than five minutes left.
Bajkov then chased Kehler with his second goal of the game on a gorgeous set up at the net by Matt Fonteyne and Sean Richards, 5:24 into the third period for a 4-0 lead. Hart kept Portland off the scoreboard all the way until 1:14 remaining in the third period when Joachim Blichfeld was rewarded with his 12th goal of the season off a bounce at the net.
Kehler took the loss on 31 saves, replaced by Shane Farkas, who stopped all 10 shots.
