KELOWNA, British Columbia – Patrick Bajkov scored a goal and added an assist to set a new franchise record for points in his career, while the Everett Silvertips buried three power play goals and Carter Hart turned in 29 saves to defeat the Kelowna Rockets, 3-2 before 5,230 fans at Prospera Place on Friday in WHL action.


The Silvertips improved to 4-0-1-0 in the last five lifetime appearances in Kelowna and seized the top record in the Western Conference while extending their lead to five points for first place in the U.S. Division. Connor Dewar and Bryce Kindopp added goals in the second and third period respectively.

The scoring in the battle between two CHL Top-10 teams opened with Bajkov’s record setting goal, the 263rd point in his career to surpass Zach Hamill, and set up by Kevin Davis’ pass to the right circle. Bajkov unloaded a wrist shot, beaing Brodan Salmond under the crossbar with 10.8 left in the first period.

Connor Dewar extended the lead to 2-0 on a one-timer at the right circle, set up by a puck steered around the perimeter from Bajkov and Davis at 10:08 of the second period. Carter Hart came through with a big stop late in the second period, keeping the Tips up by two at the intermission.

On another power play in the third period, Bryce Kindopp drove the net and crashed for a rebound goal for a 3-0 advantage with 11:28 left in regulation, after Salmond kicked out Jake Christiansen’s bid from the left circle.

Kyle Topping broke Carter Hart’s shutout bid 28 seconds later on a set up by Kole Lind from the right corner, and the Rockets cut the lead to one goal on a six-on-five situation with 1:26 left in regulation when Lind, fluttering a shot to the net from the left circle, found Carsen Twarynski for a follow up chance.

Hart made one more solid stop on Dillon Dube with 10 seconds left on a wrister from the right circle to close the game.

Salmond took the loss with 24 saves.
