TOP 5 TIPS TIDBITS

  • STEADY AS SHE GOES: The Silvertips are the only team in the last 14 WHL seasons to reach the playoffs every season … they have captured five U.S. Division titles, most recently last season when they went 44-16-9-3.
  • ROARING 20’S: All 3 Silvertips in their overage year return for their fifth season with the franchise – forwards Patrick Bajkov and Matt Fonteyne, and defenseman Kevin Davis … all 3 players, if playing the full 72-game schedule, are on pace to break the all-time games played recorded in Tips history, held by Shane Harper (335).
  • VETS LEAD THE WAY: Matt Fonteyne scored the first goal of the 2017-18 campaign and Patrick Bajkov added two assists … both are overagers on the Tips roster and entering their fifth season with the franchise … Fonteyne collected his 23rd multi point game of his career … Bajkov had the 44th of his career.
  • THE HART OF THE MATTER: Two-time reigning WHL Goaltender of the Year and Silvertips MVP Carter Hart was reassigned to the Silvertips yesterday after suiting up in training camp with the Philadelphia Flyers … he is fourth on the Silvertips all-time list in wins (85), games (149), and second in shutouts (19).
  • NO PEEP AGAINST THE PK: Ranked #1 last season in the WHL, the Silvertips turned in a 2-of-2 effort on the penalty kill last night against the Portland Winterhawks
