The Silvertips face the Rockets for the third time in four meetings … it will be the conclusion of a home and home series … the Silvertips (honorable mention) and Rockets (10th) are both listed in the CHL Top 10 rankings  … the Silvertips own a 8-0-2-1 record in the last 11 lifetime meetings … last season the Tips went 2-0-1-1 vs. the Rockets … the Silvertips have won 10 of the last 12 games and hold a five point lead for first place in the U.S. Division and a one point lead for the top record in the Western Conference … Kelowna was 4-0-1 before the Silvertips took last night’s meeting, 3-2.

LAST GAME (EVT 3 – KEL 2 / 2-2-18): Patrick Bajkov scored a goal and added an assist to set a new franchise record for points in his career, while the Everett Silvertips buried three power play goals and Carter Hart turned in 29 saves to defeat the Kelowna Rockets, 3-2 before 5,230 fans at Prospera Place on Friday in WHL action.  The Silvertips improved to 4-0-1-0 in the last five lifetime appearances in Kelowna and seized the top record in the Western Conference while extending their lead to five points for first place in the U.S. Division. Connor Dewar and Bryce Kindopp added goals in the second and third period respectively.

  • TORRID TIPS: The Tips are 29-7-0-2 in the last 38 games and finished 9-3-0-1 in January… they have won 23 of the last 28 games … Matt Fonteyne led the Silvertips in January – and the entire league – with 25 points in 13 games and added 12 goals

  • HELPING HAND: Matt Fonteyne – named WHL Player of the Week last Monday – added to his case with WHL Player of the Month honors for January – tied a Tips record for assists in a game (5) on Jan. 15 in a 6-5 win vs. Tri-City … the last to post the mark was Peter Mueller, 11/25/06 vs. Tri-City … Fonteyne has 21 multi point games this season and led the league with 25 points in 13 games for January.
  • SPECIAL DELIVERIES: For the Silvertips special teams, the penalty kill is 1st in the WHL (84.3) … the Tips power play went 5-of-9 on Jan. 7 vs. Victoria, tying a franchise record for most power play goals in one game (5) … they are 18-of-54 in the last 11 games … Matt Fonteyne leads the Silvertips with 14 power play goals (4th, WHL).

Riley Sutter skated in the CHL/NHL Top Prospects game last night Guelph … was given a “B” listing among the NHL Central Scouting rankings for the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, considered possible second or third round choices in the upcoming draft … through 14 seasons, a total of 19 players through the Silvertips program have been selected in the NHL Entry Draft … a total of 17 Silvertips have advanced to play in the NHL … Sutter has tied his career high in goals (20).
