LAST GAME (POR 3 – EVT 1 / 11-4-17): – Alex Overheard broke a 1-1 tie with his eventual game winning goal in the third period and Cole Kehler turned away 41 shots for first star honors, helping the Portland Winterhawks get by the Everett Silvertips, 3-1 before 7,887 fans at XFINITY Arena on Saturday in WHL action. With the Tips suiting up in their ninth annual Pink the Rink game which raised over 67,000 in proceeds to benefit breast cancer prevention and treatment, Sean Richards scored the only Silvertips goal while Carter Hart followed up Friday’s 23-save performance to keep the Tips in the thick of the game with 39 stops.

  • C. CONNECTION: Six Silvertips players hail from the province of British Columbia in addition to assistant coach Mitch Love, a native of Quesnel, B.C. … the two game series will be the final appearance for Patrick Bajkov and Kevin Davis, both in their overage season.
  • DEWAR OF GOOD DEEDS: Connor Dewar (development camp, Toronto Maple Leafs and draft eligible) entered today third in the WHL in shots (86) and leads the Tips in power play goals (6) and goals (10) … he has five goals in the last five games.
  • HART OF THE MATTER: Reigning back-to-back WHL Goaltender of the Year Carter Hart made his home debut last Friday with 23 saves in the Tips 3-1 victory over Prince George … his 87 career wins are 2nd all-time in Silvertips history … he was in net Monday for Team WHL’s win over Russia, 7-0 in the Canada Russia series and was the third goaltender in event history to post a 60-minute shutout.
  • WOLF IT DOWN: Dustin Wolf made 82 saves in his first two career games to earn WHL and CHL Goaltender of the Week honors last week … he became the youngest goaltender in Tips history (16 years, 6 months, 11 days) to earn a win since Carter Hart (16 years, 1 month, 7 days) in 2014-15, when he stopped 26 shots in a 2-0 win at Seattle.
  • BIG BANG BAJKOV: Patrick Bajkov, returning from training camp with the Vegas Golden Knights, leads the Tips with 25 points in 18 games (T-12, WHL) … his last two goals have been scored with 1:30 left in regulation or less, both game winners.
