TONIGHTS MATCHUP AND SERIES NOTES

Eighth of ten meetings against the Chiefs and the finale of three games in three days … the Tips are 4-2-1-0 this season against Spokane … the Tips are 58-55-9 all-time against Spokane and last season went 4-2-1-1 in the head-to-head series … the Silvertips enter today first place in the Western Conference and U.S. Division … they went 5-0-0-1 in their last two “3-in-3” situations (currently 1-0-1) … the Silvertips hold a two point lead in the Western Conference with 16 games left in the regular season … Spokane defeated Tri-City last night, 6-3 and are 8-0-2 in the last 10 games.

LAST GAME (EVT 5 – VAN 0 / 2-11-18): Carter Hart earned his 26th career shutout, tying the WHL record, while tying the Everett Silvertips’ record for most wins by a goaltender (Leland Irving) with his 107th win as the Silvertips defeated the Vancouver Giants, 5-0 in front of a crowd of 5,982 at the Angel of the Winds Arena. Nine different Silvertips players were on the scoresheet, Ian Walker scored his first career WHL goal and Ethan O’Rourke earned his first goal as a Silvertip. Sean Richards, Matt Fonteyne, and Bryce Kindopp also supplied goals for the Silvertips.

  • TORRID TIPS: The Tips are 31-7-1-2 in the last 41 games and finished 9-3-0-1 in January… they have won 25 of the last 31 games … Matt Fonteyne led the Silvertips in January – and the entire league – with 25 points in 13 games and added 12 goals … they have 4 games of scoring 8 goals or more.

  • HELPING HAND: Matt Fonteyne – named WHL Player of the Week in January – added to his case with WHL Player of the Month honors for the month as well – tied a Tips record for assists in a game (5) on Jan. 15 in a 6-5 win vs. Tri-City … the last to post the mark was Peter Mueller, 11/25/06 vs. Tri-City … Fonteyne has 22 multi point games this season and led the league with 25 points in 13 games for January.
  • SPECIAL DELIVERIES: For the Silvertips special teams, the penalty kill is 1st in the WHL (84.9) … the Tips power play went 5-of-9 on Jan. 7 vs. Victoria, tying a franchise record for most power play goals in one game (5) … they are 20-of-68 in the last 14 games … Matt Fonteyne leads the Silvertips with 14 power play goals (T-5, WHL).
