TONIGHTS MATCHUP AND SERIES NOTES

Fifth of six meetings between the Silvertips and Giants this season … the Silvertips enter today both in first place, in the Western Conference and U.S. Division … the Silvertips won five of six meetings last season with Vancouver (5-0-1-0) and are 26-5-3-0 in the series since 2012-13 … the last Tips meeting with the Giants was Feb. 10 and the Silvertips earned a 5-0 victory … the Silvertips have outscored Vancouver, 22-5 in the first four games … Vancouver is 6-4-0-0 in the last ten games.

LAST GAME (EVT 4 – SPO 1 / 2-20-18): Garrett Pilon (two goals, assist) and Connor Dewar reached the 30-goal plateau while Riley Sutter bagged the eventual game winning goal to help the Everett Silvertips clinch a playoff berth in a 4-1 victory over the Spokane Chiefs before 4,469 fans at Spokane Arena on Tuesday in WHL action. The victory clinched a WHL Playoff berth for the 15th straight season, helping the Silvertips extend the longest current postseason streak in the league. Kevin Davis, named to the starting lineup, became the new all-time leader for games played in Silvertips history, the 336th of his career to surpass Shane Harper. Carter Hart improved to 24-4-1-3 with 28 saves.

SUTTER SENT TO THE TOP

Riley Sutter skated in the CHL/NHL Top Prospects game in Guelph … was given a “B” listing among the NHL Central Scouting rankings for the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, (possible second or third round in the upcoming draft) … through 14 seasons, a total of 19 players through the Silvertips program have been selected in the NHL Entry Draft … a total of 17 Silvertips have advanced to play in the NHL … Sutter has reached a career high in goals (24).

THIS DATE IN SILVERTIPS HISTORY

EVT 4 – VAN 3 (SO): 2-23-07: Leland Irving stopped Wacey Rabbit in the third round while stopping 32 shots and the Silvertips held off the Vancouver Giants, 4-3 in a shootout … the two teams combined for 82 penalty minutes … Jesse Burt, Dan Gender, and Damir Alic each scored for the Tips in regulation.

 

TIPS IN THE NHL

Noah Juulsen (D) made his NHL debut last night with the Montreal Canadiens vs. the New York Rangers … he became the 18th former Silvertip to suit up and play in the NHL … Juulsen was selected by Montreal in the first round in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft … he had 124 points and 149 penalty minutes in 240 career WHL games, all with the Silvertips.
