TONIGHTS MATCHUP AND SERIES NOTES

Third of six meetings between the Silvertips and Giants this season (Tips are 2-0-0-0) … the Silvertips have won 18 of the last 23 games and have surged into first place in the U.S. Division … before Wednesday’s 11-0 Tips win in Vancouver, the Giants had won 8 of the previous 9 games … the Silvertips won five of six meetings last season with Vancouver (5-0-1-0) and are 25-5-2-0 in the series since 2012-13 … the last Tips meeting with the Giants in Everett was Nov. 25 and the Silvertips won, 5-2 … the Silvertips have outscored Vancouver, 16-2 in the first two games.

LAST GAME (EVT 11 – VAN 0 / 12-27-17): Connor Dewar (5 points), Riley Sutter (four goals and an assist), and Bryce Kindopp (two assists) combined for 12 points as the Everett Silvertips set a new franchise record for most goals in a game, cruising to an 11-0 victory over the Vancouver Giants before 4,046 fans at Langley Events Centre on Wednesday in WHL action. Coming out of the holiday break, the Silvertips blasted four goals on nine shots in the first period and tied a franchise record (for the second straight game) for most goals in a period (5) in the middle frame. Riley Sutter’s four goals (first career hat trick) were the most by a Silvertip in a game since Remi Laurencelle in 2015-16. First year netminder Dustin Wolf earned his sixth win in eight games and second career shutout in three games. The Tips have scored 18 goals in the last two games, both bookending the holiday break.

SUTTER SENT TO THE TOP

Riley Sutter will participate in the CHL/NHL Top Prospects games in late January in Guelph … was given a “B” listing among the NHL Central Scouting rankings for the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, considered possible second or third round choices in the upcoming draft … through 14 seasons, a total of 19 players through the Silvertips program have been selected in the NHL Entry Draft.
