Everett Adds Picks, Nikolishin Headed to Red Deer
EVERETT – The Everett Silvertips announced a Thursday morning trade that finds Everett gaining a third-round pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft and a conditional fourth round selection in the 2017 draft from the Red Deer Rebels in exchange for 19-year-old forward Ivan Nikolishin. In a separate deal later in the draft, the ‘Tips gained a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2016 draft from the Calgary Hitmen in exchange for 1998-born forward Andrew Fyten.
With the acquisition of the 60th overall choice from the Rebels, the Silvertips now hold ten picks between the second and sixth rounds of today’s draft. The ‘Tips will make two choices each in the third, fourth and fifth rounds before making three selections in the sixth round.
Nikolishin, 19, departs after two seasons with Everett since being selected in the second round (70th overall) of the 2013 CHL Import Draft. The 5-foot-9, 170-pound forward, who alternated between center and right wing this season, scored 16 goals and compiled 62 points while appearing in all 72 games for the Silvertips. Hailing from Moscow, Russia, Nikolishin totaled 121 points (34g/87a), 35 penalty minutes and a -5 plus/minus rating in 144 games with the Silvertips over the past two years.
Fyten, 16, was a fifth-round selection (108th overall) of the Silvertips in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. With the CSSHL Edge School Bantam program in Calgary last year, the unsigned Didsbury, Alberta native put up 44 points (22g/22a) and 185 penalty minutes in 62 games.
