The Everett Silvertips Hockey Club is searching for an enthusiastic, energetic and ambitious talent of tomorrow to join our Media/Public Relations Department for the 2016-17 Western Hockey League season.  The successful candidate will assist the Director of Broadcasting & Public Relations, and Digital Media Assistant at all Everett Silvertips home hockey games and various other team events, such as radio shows and community appearances.

This is a great opportunity to learn the field of sports communications in a hands-on, real-world setting.  The internship begins immediately and continues through the end of the Silvertips’ season, which will fall sometime between late March and late May.  Time commitment averages
approximately 16 hours per week, but can vary from 6-30 hours during certain weeks.

Based on the particular candidate’s skill set and career ambition, duties may include a variety, or all of the following:

  • Assisting with digital video and radio production content (interviews, intermission segments – reporting, co-hosting)
  • Manufacturing creative editorial and broadcast content (game related and feature) for game night broadcasts and radio show on team flagship station, the Silvertips website and mobile app
  • Assisting with press box setup & coordinating with game operations personnel
  • Acting as team media liaison and conducting/coordinating interviews
  • Facilitate needs of media during game (distribution of line-ups, three stars polling, and other assistance upon request)
  • Support, planning & execution of community appearances and PR events
  • Act as team liaison for media interview requests (non-game days only)
  • Additional duties as assigned



  • Familiarity, interest, and optimal knowledge of hockey and the WHL
  • Positive, professional and enthusiastic attitude
  • Strong writing skills and in-depth knowledge of social media networks
  • Excellent communication skills – grammar, spelling, proofreading, and writing abilities
  • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple projects efficiently, and adhere to firm deadlines
  • Comfortable with attention to detail, emphasizing on maintaining a strong focus with branding, consistency and quality
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively
  • Commitment to working many evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Previous experience or a background in sports is helpful, but not required

The Retail Sales position at the Silvertips Team Store, located at XFINITY Arena, has the opportunity to develop great relationships with our repeat customers in addition to informing the first time customer of everything we have to offer.  The Team Store Associate is responsible for enhancing customer experience and sales generation in the following areas:

Key responsibilities:

  • General Customer service
  • Assisting customers with purchase decisions
  • Increasing sales volume
  • Monitoring inventory and theft prevention
  • Maintaining store appearance
  • Keeping store orderly at all times
  • Other duties as assigned

We are looking for:

  • Sports/Retail Sales Experience Preferred
  • Knowledge of hockey
  • High School diploma preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional appearance and presentation
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to lift items up to 25 pounds
  • Must be available to work all Silvertips home games
