EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips announced today that defenseman Noah Juulsen (JOOL-sen) has been returned to the club from training camp with the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League. The Silvertips are carrying 26 players, including three goaltenders, on their current roster.
Juulsen, 18, participated in the Canadiens’ main training camp and skated in last night’s preseason game vs. Ottawa at Bell Centre, registering two shots on goal, three hits, and one blocked shot in 13:35 of ice time.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound blueliner was Montreal’s first round selection (26th overall) at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft and comes off a career-high 52 points (9g-43a) in 68 games from last season with Everett, leading all Silvertips defensemen while ranking tied for eighth among the WHL’s defensemen in scoring. He also posted three power play goals and his +22 rating was second on the club.
Juulsen skated in last season’s CHL Top Prospects Game, was invited to Canada’s National Junior Team summer development camp in July, and signed a three-year contract with the Canadiens on July 9. He is one of 17 players in Silvertips history to be drafted by an NHL club and last season was named recipient of the team’s Most Dedicated Player award.
Juulsen is expected to be available to make his Silvertips season debut on Saturday, when Everett visits the Portland Winterhawks, 7:00 p.m. at Moda Center (FOX Sports 1380/WHL Live). Silvertips radio voice Mike Benton will handle broadcast coverage 30 minutes prior to opening face-off with the Silvertips pregame show, presented by Everett Bone and Joint.
The Silvertips are underway with their 13th season in the Western Hockey League and will open their home schedule at XFINITY Arena, 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10 against the Spokane Chiefs for “Fill the House” Night presented by BECU.
