Everett, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips lost for the fifth time this season to the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-1 on Friday night, January 11th, at Comcast Arena at the Everett Events Center. It's just the seventh time that Seattle has ever won in Everett and the Silvertips now trail the ten game season series 0-4-0-1. Their overall record also drops a notch to 23-20-0-2 (48 pts.) which maintains their third place position in the U.S Division and fifth place in the Western Conference.

The Thunderbirds opened up scoring late in the first period on a Sena Acolatse goal. A scramble around the Silvertips net led a combination of stops between goaltender Leland Irving and several other Everett players. Eventually, the puck went to Acolatse at the right point who skated low with it around the crowd and scored at 15:43.

Seattle added to their lead quickly in the second with a shorthanded score. Jan Eberle intercepted the puck at his own blue line and started a 2-on-1 up the right wing side with Prab Rai heading up center. Eberle's pass went to Rai's tape and he deked his way around Irving at the 1:20 mark.

Zack Dailey then pulled the Silvertips back to within one on the home team's seventh power play of the night. Dan Gendur's point shot ricocheted off of bodies in front of the net and Dailey was there to put the puck past sprawling Seattle goaltender Riku Helenius at 7:44. Seattle completed the scoreboard activity when David Richard roofed a breakaway shot over Irving at 19:33.

The team will have a rare Saturday off from action before returning to the ice on Sunday in Portland against the Winter Hawks. Game time at Memorial Coliseum is set for 5:00 p.m. Next week's schedule consists of three games: at Spokane on Wednesday night (7:00 p.m.) and then back home at Comcast Arena at the Everett Events Center for a Friday night game against Portland (7:35 p.m.) and on Saturday night against Spokane (7:05 p.m.).
