Silvertips Lose Overtime Heartbreaker in Kamloops
First regular season overtime loss since early 2007

Kamloops, BC - Every player gets excited for their Western Hockey League debut but for Silvertips rookie Paul Van de Velde tonight's season opening game was even more special as he got to take on the team that originally selected him in the 2005 WHL Bantan Draft the Kamloops Blazers and Van de Velde would get his revenge.
With the Silvertips on the power play, Van de Velde scored his first career goal at the at the 8:22 mark of the first period to give Everett an early 1-0 lead. Kellan Tochkin and Shayne Brown were given assists on goal. Kamloops would answer Van de Velde's goal 10 minutes later as CJ Stretch got one past Shayne Barrie to tie the game up a 1-1.
In the second period, the Blazers would extend their lead to 2-1 with a short handed goal with Shayne Wiebe scoring from Stretch and Giffen Nyren at 1:52 but later in the period Matthew Ius would tie the game-up with a rebound goal off of a Ryan White shot.
Blazers' captain Scott Wasden gave Kamloops back the lead in the third period, a lead that looked like it would hold up but Shane Harper scored the game tying goal with only :07 left on the clock to force over time.
In overtime, Kenton Dulle got around Brown and squirted a shot past Barrie to score the game winning goal at the 2:02 mark.
The last time the Silvertips lost a regular season game in overtime occurred on February 18th, 2007, when Mark Santorelli scored to give the Chilliwack Bruins a 3-2 victory over Everett at Prospera Centre.
The Silvertips home opener is Saturday, September 20th, featuring a 7:05 contest against the rival Vancouver Giants.
