'Tips Take Down T-Birds, 3-1
Kent Simpson stops 21 of 22 in victory

Everett, WA - A tightly contested Everett/Seattle rivalry game Friday night came down to the final minutes where the Silvertips edged out the Thunderbirds, 3-1. Everett held a 2-1 lead after the end of the first period and the score remained the same until Tyler Maxwell sealed a win late in the third period with his seventh of the year. Kent Simpson stopped 21 shots Friday night to improve his record to 3-1-0-0. Ryan Murray took home the third star of the night with a two assist performance. Everett outshot Seattle 43-22 on the night.
After a fast tempo of play opened up Friday night's rivalry game, Shane Harper found the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season. Harper collected a rebound after Chris Langkow's wrap around attempt beating Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard low glove side at 7:17. Seattle answered back on the power play at 18:10. Brenden Silvester collected his second of the year after a Simpson save bounced in the air and landed on top of the crease where Silvester fought traffic to tie the game 1-1. Everett wasn't down for long after Byron Froese collected a rebound off the draw from a Ryan Murray shot at 19:37. Stalling enough to walk around Pickard, Froese found his fourth of the season to give Everett the 2-1 lead at the end of the first.
A hard fought second period led to no scoring between Everett and Seattle. Everett continued to lead in shots, 17-6.
Tyler Maxwell increased Everett's lead after beating Pickard five-hole at 17:48. The play started with a hard Radko Gudas hit, at the defensive blue line, that turned the Silvertips up ice and lead to Maxwell's goal assisted by Murray making the score 3-1. Seattle pulled Pickard with two minutes left in regulation, but couldn't find the scoreboard leading to an Everett 3-1 victory.
This brings the 'Tips record to 5-2-0-0 with 10 points in 7 games played. Everett heads out to Kelowna tomorrow night, October 17th, to take on the Rockets at 7:05pm.
