Everett, Wash. - Everett, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips lost to the Brandon Wheat Kings 5-2 on Saturday night, October 24th, in front of 5,758 fans on "Pink the Rink" Night at Comcast Arena. A promising first two periods couldn't hold in the third for the Silvertips whose record slips to 6-4 (12 pts.) keeping them 3rd place in the U.S. Division and 6th in the Western Conference.

The opening period saw both teams get on the scoreboard with Brandon doing so first. At 6:01 and on their first power play, the Wheat Kings created activity in front of the net and when Kent Simpson sprawled out to grab for the loose puck, Toni Rajala got to it first to flip it into the net. Byron Froese did the responding for the Silvertips at 12:57. Also on the power play, Froese picked out the corner of the net behind Andrew Hayes from inside the left circle, just above the hash marks.

It was a back-and-forth battle in the second period as the teams fought for momentum. Everett was able to prevail in the second half when Zack Dailey scored on a breakaway at 14:42 following a great up-ice pass from Dale Hunt. The goal gave an added boost to the Silvertips which came in handy as they had to kill off a 5-on-3 disadvantage for 1:20 late in the period to carry that 2-1 lead into the third.

Unfortunately, the Silvertips couldn't maintain what they had going and Brandon took advantage scoring four times in the final 20 minutes. First, Jay Fehr poked the puck through Simpson's 5-hole at 43-seconds and that was later followed up by a Matt Calvert short-handed goal at 8:43. Fehr then scored for his second time and did so on the man advantage at 14:59 with a deflection that went top shelf and his team finalized the scoreboard at 19:53 with a Scott Glennie empty netter.

The Silvertips will now set their sights upon the annual Eastern Conference road trip which this season takes them to the Central Division. It all begins with a Wednesday night game in Cranbrook, BC against the Kootenay Ice. Face-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM pacific time and the entire road trip can be followed on North Sound 1380 KRKO.
