Simpson, Tochkin Shine In Shootout Victory Over Oil Kings
Simpson stops 37 shots, Tochkin posts both Everett goals

Edmonton, AB - The Everett Silvertips improved to 3-0 on their season long seven game road trip with a thrilling back and forth 2-1 shootout victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings Saturday afternoon at Rexall Place. The two teams combined for 77 shots through overtime with Kent Simpson stopping 37 of 38 and Cam Lanigan stopping 38 of 39 for the Oil Kings. Kellan Tochkin scored two goals for Everett including the game winner in the shootout. Radko Gudas collected an assist extending his point streak to seven games. Everett's penalty kill stopped all four Edmonton power play opportunities moving the Silvertips to 14 for 14 on the penalty kill during their current road trip.
Everett opened up the scoring at 9:29 of the first period when Tochkin backhanded a Tyler Maxwell rebound past Lanigan to give the Silvertips the 1-0 lead. Both teams collected 10 shots in the first period of play.
Edmonton tied it late in the second when Michael St. Croix deflected a Mark Pysyk shot past Simpson at 18:01. Despite the up-tempo action in the third period, in which both teams combined for 29 shots, Simpson and Lanigan put on a display to keep both sides off the scoreboard through the final period and overtime.
In the shootout, Tochkin scored for the Silvertips in the second round with a terrific deke around Lanigan, setting the stage for a Kent Simpson glove save on St. Croix to cement the game for the tips. Everett is now 7-2 in their last nine games and improved to 24-11-3-0-1 on the road against the Eastern Conference.
This brings the 'Tips record to 9-4-0-0 with 18 points in 13 games played. The Silvertips continue their seven game road trip this Tuesday, November 3rd with a 6:00pm start against the Medicine Hat Tigers.
