Emergency Food Drive Scheduled for Saturday
Everett Silvertips Press Release
Everett, WA - The Everett Silvertips are calling on the generosity of Silvertip Country to replenish a depleted supply of food at the Volunteers of America Food Bank by bringing non-perishable food items to this Saturday's game against the Seattle Thunderbirds.
Due to a 14% increase of new food bank users, it was reported on the Volunteers of America's Western Washington website (www.voaww.org) earlier this week that less than a week's supply of food remains. "The fact is our shelves are bare. We need help, especially with the holidays coming," explained Christin Froderberg, Director of Food Bank Services.
The Snohomish County-based food bank now serves over 5,000 individuals each month, with children and seniors accounting for 70% of that total.
Fans are asked to bring in canned goods and non-perishable food items, which will be placed in collection bins upon entrance to Saturday's 7:05 game against the Seattle Thunderbirds.
The Everett Silvertips continue to thank the generosity of their fans for participating in a civic-minded procedure to benefit the less fortunate. Last season's Holiday Food Drive netted 1,331 pounds of food, which the team hopes to surpass this season.
The season continues on Friday, November 13th at Comcast Arena as the Silvertips host the defending champion Kelowna Rockets at 7:35 pm. For ticket information, including season seats and ticket packages, please call the Silvertips' front office at (425) 252-5100.
