Langkow scores for Silvertips
Everett Silvertips Press Release
Everett, WA - The Kelowna Rockets advance to the semi-final round of the WHL playoffs after defeating the Everett Silvertips 2-1 Monday night at Comcast Arena. Chris Langkow scored the lone goal for Everett while Kent Simpson made 20 saves for the Silvertips.
The Kelowna Rockets took the first lead of the game Monday night at 1:36 of the first period. Scoring on the power play, Geordie Wudrick scored his eighth of the playoffs by deflecting a Dallas Jackson slap shot from the left point for a 1-0 Kelowna lead. Shots were tied at seven a piece after the first period of play.
Everett tied the game at 4:52 of the second period with Langkow's second goal of the post-season. Radko Gudas sent a slap shot on net from the right point that was stopped by Mark Guggenberger. Langkow found the puck lying in the crease as he pushed home Everett's first goal of the night to make the score 1-1. The Rockets regained the lead at 12:23 with Lucas Bloodoff's second goal of the playoffs. Bloodoff deflected a Brandon McMillian shot from the point past Simpson high glove side. After two periods Everett led in shots 25-15.
Everett produced 16 shots in the third period, but strong play in net by Guggenberger stopped all chances by the Silvertips. Simpson was pulled with 1:04 remaining in regulation as Everett fought hard to tie the game, but Kelowna denied all Everett shots to hold on to a 2-1 victory.
Thank you, Silvertip Country, for an exciting 2009-10! We will see you soon for the 2010-2011 season!
