Silvertips, Fox Sports 1380 Renew Radio Deal
EVERETT – The Everett Silvertips and Fox Sports 1380 are pleased to announce a new five-year renewal of our radio broadcast agreement. Locally owned, 50,000 watt Fox Sports 1380 will once again be the flagship station for Sound Transit Everett Silvertips hockey broadcasts and the Everett Silvertips Hockey Show on Tuesday evenings, while select Friday night games in the fall will continue to air on sister station Classic Country 1520 KXA.
“We’re very excited to continue our long-standing relationship with Fox Sports 1380 through the 2018-19 season,” said Silvertips Executive Vice President Zoran Rajcic. “We have always felt that it’s a great fit for our team to work with a locally-owned radio station that calls this community home, and Fox Sports 1380 has been a great partner for us through the years. It’s the station our games have been on since our inaugural season in 2003 and we’re happy it’s going to stay that way.”
Fox Sports 1380 is the North Sound’s home for Dan Patrick in the morning and “The Fish” Jeff Aaron in the afternoon in addition to live coverage of Everett AquaSox baseball, Snohomish County high school football and basketball, NASCAR and much more. Classic Country 1520 KXA, which launched in 2011, plays all the legendary country favorites of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.
“The Everett Silvertips are an integral part of our community and our programming. We’re pleased to bring Silvertips games to life over the air, online, and via our new mobile digital platforms, and our local hosts like Jeff Aaron on Fox Sports 1380 and Stitch Mitchell on Classic Country 1520 are looking forward to involving listeners through special promotions and giveaways all season long,” said Andy Skotdal, president of Fox Sports 1380.
Handling play-by-play duties for Silvertips games once again this season is Travis Huntington, who returns for his fourth season behind the microphone as “voice of the Silvertips”. Back for a ninth year in the ‘Tips broadcast booth is veteran color analyst Al Kinisky, a former WHL player and NHL draft pick who joins Huntington for Silvertips home games and select road games throughout the season.
The Silvertips travel to Portland this weekend for a pair of games at the Moda Center. The ‘Tips and Winterhawks face-off at 7:00 pm Saturday and 5:00 pm on Sunday, with pregame radio coverage starting 30 minutes prior to each game on Fox Sports 1380. Streaming video of both games is also available via WHL Live. Everett opens its home schedule next weekend, hosting the Kelowna Rockets on Friday, Oct. 3 and the Winterhawks on Saturday, Oct. 4.
