MOMENT OF THE YEAR » #8 … The Night That Went to 11
By Carmen Dittoe – Silvertips Staff Writer
After the routine holiday break, the Everett Silvertips erased any thought of a rough transition as they exploded for 11 goals in their late December return to the ice. In the away game against the Vancouver Giants, Connor Dewar (5 points), Riley Sutter (four goals and an assist, first career hat trick – tying a Tips record), and Bryce Kindopp (two assists) combined for 12 points with Dustin Wolf in net as the Everett Silvertips set a new franchise record for most goals in a game.
Riley Sutter (RW) scored his 14th goal of the season to start the first period (2:28), finding the net again just ten minutes later with forwards Kindopp and Dewar on the assist. Dewar kept the heat with two consecutive goals just three minutes apart from each other at 16:00 and 19:05 into the first.
After allowing four unanswered goals in nine shots, the Vancouver Giants pulled goalie David Tendeck for the second period and put rookie Todd Scott between the posts. Just 2:21 into the period, Sutter scored his 16th goal of the season for his first career hat trick. Within the next three minutes, forwards Sean Richards and Orrin Centazzo put up the Silvertips’ sixth and seventh goals of the night, with both Jake Christiansen and Matt Fonteyne following suit with goals eight and nine in the last four minutes of the period.
Vancouver Goalie Tendeck made a third period return to the ice after Scott allowed five Everett goals. Sutter scored his fourth goal of the night at 11:28, logging the most goals by a Silvertip in a game since Remi Laurencelle in 2015-16. The Tips pulled Wolf with less than six minutes left in regulation, adding a skater and pushing Centazzo to his second goal of the night at 17:18 to close out the blast on Vancouver with a new franchise record set at 11 goals in a game.
Sutter tied the Tips single game record for most goals (4) as well.
