EVERETT, Wash. – Carter Hart made 21 saves and the Everett Silvertips only needed Bradly Goethals’ second period goal to extinguish a seven-game winless streak and defeat the Vancouver Giants, 1-0 before a crowd of  6,411 at XFINITY Arena in WHL action on Saturday.

The Silvertips, stretching their lead to five points for first place in the U.S. Division with the win, outshot Vancouver 41-21 in the game while Hart’s shutout, his league leading 7th this season, was the 17th of his career while he earned his 73rd career victory, surpassing Austin Lotz for second place on the Silvertips all-time list.

Ending a stretch of seven games in nine nights, their busiest of the entire season, the Silvertips collected their league leading 21st win at home this season.

After a scoreless tie in the opening period, they finally broke through on Goethals’ deflection behind the goal line at 6:12 after Kubic got a piece of Ian Walker’s blast from the point. Everett outshot Vancouver, 15-4 in the middle frame.

The Silvertips continued pushing through the third period and outshot the Giants, 11-6 in the final frame but Hart had to be sharp in the last five minutes, turning away a pair of jam plays at the net. He and the Silvertips penalty kill stopped a late Giants power play and six-on-four opportunity late in the game, and a clear by Brian King sealed the victory.

Kubic had 40 saves to take the loss.
