EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips (@WHLsilvertips) have announced that a total of 8,583 teddy bears and stuffed animals were donated and collected during their annual Teddy Bear Toss game presented by Jersey Mike’s – Evergreen Way, Dec. 17 against the Portland Winterhawks at XFINITY Arena.
The Silvertips hosted this year’s Teddy Bear Toss game in collaboration with Christmas House, Jersey Mike’s – Evergreen Way, Les Schwab Tires, and Warm 106.9. The Silvertips’ first goal of the night was scored by Finland import Eetu Tuulola, at 19:28 of the second period. Following the goal, thousands of teddy bears and stuffed animals were thrown onto the ice by the 5,377 fans in attendance.
The Teddy Bear toss game is designed to collect donations and toys for organizations such as Christmas House, and give them to underprivileged families with children with ages varying from infant to 18 years of age.
Christmas House is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization that provides free stuffed animals and toys for low income families in Snohomish County during the holiday season. Last year marked 35 years of Christmas House collecting donations and toys for families, and last year alone, over 8,000 children from 2,750 families, received over 48,000 stuffed animals and toys for Christmas.
The Silvertips have helped collect and donate over 17,000 stuffed animals since the return of Teddy Bear Toss to XFINITY Arena last season.
The Silvertips return from their holiday break to take on the Vancouver Giants in Langley BC, Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 7:00pm (1380 AM / 95.3 FM / Tips App), and then come back home Wednesday, Dec. 28 to play the Giants again, with a puck drop of 7:05 pm at XFINITY Arena for Midweek Madness.
