GAME RECAP: Berezowski nets hat trick in home regular season finale, Royals win 6-4
EVERETT, Wash. — Jackson Berezowski pulled even with Josh Winquist’s single-season franchise goals record with a hat trick in his regular season home finale Friday night as the Everett Silvertips fell to the Victoria Royals 6-4.
Victoria leapt out to a 3-0 lead in the first period, with Nate Misskey and Teydon Trembecky scoring within the first 2:10 and Tanner Scott tacking on a third at 9:32.
Berezowski began chipping away at the deficit at 2:25 in the second period, banging in a powerplay rebound for his first of the night. Fellow overager Raphael Pelletier rifled a one-timer in for his 17th of the season at 11:57 in the frame to pull the Tips within one. Victoria responded at 13:52 as Teague Patton restored the Royals’ multi-goal lead.
Patton scored his second of the game at 4:38 in the third period for a 5-2 Royals lead. Berezowski grabbed his second of the game on a 4-on-3 powerplay at 6:50, deking out goaltender Braden Holt with a backhander in front of the net. Alex Tacker’s tally at 10:40 iced the decision in favor of the Royals.
Berezowski completed his hat trick with just nine seconds remaining in regulation, streaking in on a partial breakaway for his 47th tally of the season.
All three of Berezowski’s goals came on the man advantage, giving him 22 such goals on the campaign. His 47 goals matches Josh Winquist’s franchise record set in 2013-14 over 67 games played.
