GAME RECAP: Hemmerling plays OT hero again, Tips take 4-3 thriller vs Broncos

EVERETT, Wash. — Ben Hemmerling came up clutch yet again for the Everett Silvertips, netting an overtime winner as they topped the Swift Current Broncos in front of 7,473 fans at Angel of the Winds Arena Saturday night.

Austin Roest opened the scoring 8:14 into play, burying a rebound for his 26th goal of the season. The lead would be short-lived, as Swift Current scored twice within 18 seconds of each other at 9:12 and 9:30 for a 2-1 lead after one.

Jackson Berezowski scored his 29th of the season and 111th career goal at 1:44 in the second period, tying the game and giving him sole possession of second place on the Silvertips all-time goal-scoring list. Josh Filmon gave the Broncos back the lead at 6:53 with a powerplay goal.

Jesse Heslop would knot the score at three heading into the second intermission with his sixth of the year at 10:46, capitalizing on an Austin Roest rebound. The Roest assist earned him 100 career points in the Western Hockey League.

A scoreless third period sent the game into overtime. Ben Hemmerling netted his third OT winner of the month at 1:10 in the extra frame, powering to the net for his 16th of the year and a 4-3 win for the Silvertips.

The game was Jackson Berezowski’s 250th career regular season appearance.
