GAME RECAP: Silvertips clinch playoff berth with 3-1 win in Vancouver

LANGLEY, B.C. — The Everett Silvertips clinched their 18th playoff berth in franchise history, continuing their streak of never missing the Western Hockey League’s postseason with a 3-1 victory at the Langley Events Centre Saturday night.

Caden Zaplitny opened the scoring for the Silvertips 6:38 into the second period, redirecting a Jesse Heslop shot for his 10th goal of the season. Ty Thorpe would answer for the Giants at 11:38 in the frame, slipping a low shot through Tyler Palmer for his 30th of the year.

Heslop gave the Silvertips the lead at 17:53, tapping in a backdoor pass from Beau Courtney for his ninth tally of the season. Aidan Sutter tacked on an empty netter with less than one second left to seal the 3-1 victory.

Tyler Palmer turned aside 22 of 23 for the win, his 11th as a Silvertip.

The Silvertips face-off with the Victoria Royals tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. with live coverage featured on KRKO Radio. They return home March 3 & 4 against the Portland Winterhawks and Seattle Thunderbirds. Friday night is hat giveaway night, while Saturday is Navy Night. Tickets are available by clicking HERE.
