GAME RECAP: Silvertips come up just short in 3-1 loss at Portland

PORTLAND, Oreg. — The Portland Winterhawks snapped a nine-game losing skid with a 3-1 win over the Silvertips Sunday night.

Ty Gibson opened the scoring with a goal just three seconds into a powerplay at 10:04 in the first period, his sixth tally of the season. Gabe Klassen evened up the score with a rebound goal at 18:49.

Luca Cagnoni gave the Winterhawks a 2-1 lead at 18:13 with a 4-on-3 powerplay goal. Robbie Fromm-Delorme added an empty-netter for a 3-1 final.

Tyler Palmer stopped 41 of 43 in the loss. Jan Špunar saved 27 of 28 for Portland.
