EVERETT, WA – The Everett Silvertips announced in conjunction with the Western Hockey League today the conclusion of the 2019-20 WHL Regular Season. Based on recent developments with COVID-19, the WHL regular season was announced on pause, Mar. 12.
“First and foremost, the safety of our fans, players, staff, and country remains our highest priority and we support the league’s direction with a conclusion of the regular season, allowing us to focus first, on health and second, on the servicing of our fans who have made investments in us,” said Zoran Rajcic, Consolidated Sports Holdings chief operating officer. “We delivered a commitment several days ago to remain in contact with our fans requesting service on their ticket packages and remain committed on that approach, as we pursue every effort in preparing for the 2020 WHL Playoffs at a possible later date, and the 2020-21 WHL regular season.
We continue to encourage the practice of important health measures to all during this time: social distancing, hygiene, communication with loved ones and friends, and patience. That will help us get through truly an unprecedented time in our lives, and accelerate the opportunity for us to drop the puck again soon.”
The Silvertips announced the following opportunities for full season ticket and mini plan holders:
- Silvertips full season ticket holders (34 game plan) and mini plan holders (22-game, 14-game, or 8-game) with game tickets for Mar. 20 against the Victoria Royals will receive a pro-rated credit towards an account for the 2020-21 season (renewed and non-renewed). Monthly payments will be adjusted by the next standard payment on Apr. 15.
- Full season ticket or mini plan holders who have completed their account payment for the 2020-21 season will receive a refund check after Apr. 15.
- Active single game tickets for Mar. 20 or flex vouchers for the 2019-20 regular season will be honored with a “rain check” voucher for a potential 2020 WHL Playoff game, or any upcoming 2020-21 regular season home game through November, 2020.
- Rain check vouchers can be received in person at the Silvertips office starting today, through November 2020 by presenting a ticket to the previously scheduled Mar. 20 game vs. Victoria.
The Silvertips express full appreciation for the investment and support of every fan, understanding the challenges each individual holds at an unprecedented time. With the start of 2020 WHL Playoffs delayed, the Silvertips will update current accounts with removal of a confirmed playoff package, aimed to assist with critical financial and budgetary needs of every fan at this present time. Upon the confirmation and start of the 2020 WHL Playoffs, playoff packages will have the appropriate amount re-installed.
The WHL has arranged the final standings for the 2019-20 regular season based on points percentage. The Silvertips, with a record of 46-13-3-1 and 96 points through 63 games (.762 percentage), will finish the WHL regular season with the second highest record in the league.
WHL commissioner Ron Robison issued the following statement today on the conclusion of the WHL Regular Season:
“The WHL takes the safety of our players, officials, staff, fans, and everyone associated with the WHL very seriously,” said Robison. “Given the ongoing public health developments regarding COVID-19, we deemed it necessary to cancel the remaining games on the 2019-20 WHL Regular Season Schedule.
“We will continue to monitor ongoing public health developments regarding COVID-19. We will make every effort possible to conduct the 2020 WHL Playoffs at a later date. We thank WHL fans and partners for your patience and understanding during these challenging times.”
