Silvertips Statement on Pause of 2019-20 WHL Season
EVERETT, WA – Due to recent developments with COVID-19, the Western Hockey League has announced a pause of the WHL season immediately until further notice.
As announced on Wednesday, the state of Washington announced a limit on mass gatherings of 250 people or more in Snohomish, King, and Pierce Counties. All tickets for the Silvertips previously scheduled home game, Mar. 20 vs. Victoria, will be honored at a future Silvertips home game of the purchaser’s choice. Updated information on multi-level ticket exchanges, vouchers, and future tickets are currently in progress and the Silvertips will provide updates as soon as they are available.
The Everett Silvertips fully support today’s ordinances and remain committed to the safety and well-being of fans, business partners, players, volunteers, staff, and the general public during an unprecedented time.
Earlier today, the WHL released the following statement regarding the 2019-20 season:
Western Hockey League Commissioner Ron Robison announced today the 2019-20 WHL season will be paused until further notice. Following consultation with medical professionals and meetings today with the CHL Board of Directors, it was determined that all hockey activity in the WHL will be paused until further notice.
“Following a conference call with the WHL Board of Governors, the Western Hockey League is announcing today that it will pause the 2019-20 WHL season, effective immediately,” commented WHL Commissioner Ron Robison. “The WHL takes the safety of our players, officials, staff, fans, and everyone associated with the WHL very seriously. We will continue to monitor ongoing public health developments regarding COVID-19. Our goal is to return to play when it is safe and reasonable to do so.
“We thank WHL fans and partners for your patience and understanding as we navigate this unprecedented time.”
