TIPS WIN // Road Swing, Smash Hit

CALGARY, Alberta – Jake Christiansen continued his torrid pace since returning from the American Hockey League by scoring twice and adding an assist, while Dawson Butt added a trio of third period assist to help the Everett Silvertips rally for a 6-3 victory over the Calgary Hitmen before 5,617 fans at Scotiabank Saddledome on Sunday in WHL action.

The Silvertips earned four straight wins in five days, completing the first leg of the Central Division swing by scoring 19 goals. Christiansen has eight points in three games since his return from the AHL, while Bryce Kindopp reached the 20-goal plateau for the third straight season, finishing a nine-point, four-game week.

Dustin Wolf, making his return to Calgary since skating in camp with the Flames after his selection in the NHL Draft, earned the win with 32 saves.

UP NEXT: The Tips return home for a four-day layoff and next visit the Portland Winterhawks in the final game of their road stretch, 7:00 p.m (KRKO / WHL Live) at Moda Center on Friday. The Tips open the homestand this Saturday for Teddy Bear Toss presented by Ace Hardware against the Vancouver Giants, 7:05 p.m. in downtown Everett. Tickets are on sale with a large crowd expected, available at the link below. The game will also host the next Chick-fil-A Fan 4 Pack, offering 4 tickets and 4 sandwiches for as low as $56.

The Tips fell into a 2-0 hole late in the first period, first when Riley Stotts chipped a feed by Orca Wiesblatt for his 13th goal at 16:17 and Egor Zamula fired his seventh goal off traffic from the right point, tumbling into the net for a two-man advantage goal with 1:06 remaining.

Unfazed by the deficit, the Tips went to work and got back into the game on Kindopp’s rebound goal at the net, set up by Cole Fonstad’s dangle and snap shot at 3:33 for a 2-1 deficit. Stotts and the Hitmen came back to increase the lead to 3-1 at 9:26 on his 14th goal of the season from the low slot, but the Tips responded on Jalen Price’s snap shot past Jack McNaughton from the right circle with 4:59 to play in the period.

It was the goal that turned momentum, for good.

Jake Christiansen and the Tips took over in the third period to seize their third come-from-behind win in seven tries when trailing after two periods. Christiansen tied the game just 1:09 into the third after Justyn Gurney’s face-off win rolled the puck to the Tips defenseman, who buried a snap shot from the left side.

Christiansen came back and belted a one-timer from the left circle, set up by Butt, past McNaughton for a 4-3 Tips lead at 7:32 of the third period. The Hitmen earned a mid-period power play, threatening to tie the game, but Jett Woo’s tripping call ended the threat and on the ensuing face-off, Kindopp and Christiansen worked the puck to Wyatte Wylie, uncorking a snap shot past McNaughton’s blocker for a 5-3 lead with 9:38 left.

Butt set up Martin Fasko-Rudas for a one-timer between the circles to seal the game at 6-3 with 3:45 left.

McNaughton took the loss with 20 stops.
