LAST TIME OUT:

POR 4 – EVT 1 (10-6-18): A four-point night from Portland Winterhawks import-forward Joachim Blichfeld (2G, 2A), along with a goal and an assist from Portland defenseman Brendan De Jong provided enough offense for the Winterhawks to defeat the Everett Silvertips, 4-1, in front of 4,378 at A.O.T.W. Arena in downtown Everett on Saturday. Bryce Kindopp scored his second goal in as many games for the Silvertips, a shorthanded breakaway while Dustin Wolf turned in a 27 save effort to keep the game close before Joachim Blichfeld’s pair of empty netters.

  • SPECIAL DELIVERY: The Silvertips scored a power play goal in Friday night’s win over Seattle … they are fourth in WHL penalty killing (86.2) … of the four power play goals allowed, two have come on two-man advantages.
  • BRYCE YOURSELF: Bryce Kindopp has goals in back to back games and scored the first shorthanded goal of the year for the Silvertips on Saturday vs. Portland … he was one of seven Silvertips who reached the 20-goal plateau last season.
  • ON THEIR GUARD: The Silvertips have allowed 2.3 goals per game, ranking fifth lowest in the league entering Friday … their 25 shots allowed per game is lowest in the entire WHL.
  • HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF: Dustin Wolf, who had 4 shutouts in his first 16 games last season as a rookie, had two shutouts in five preseason games with a .927 save percentage … he has appeared in every minute as a Silvertip through three games and is 7th (minimum 100 minutes) with a .932 save percentage.

FLASHBACK FRIDAY (ON THIS DATE):

10-12-12: EVT 3 – BDN 2 (OT): The Silvertips rallied from an early 2-0 deficit and dominated play for long stretches on their way to a 3-2 overtime victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings Friday night at Westman Communications Group Place.  Landon Oslanski’s overtime winner gave the Silvertips their second victory of the year in the first game of their two-week East Division road swing. Oslanski netted the winning goal in the extra session off an assist from Manraj Hayer, who scored a goal of his own earlier in the game.  Trent Lofthouse also scored for the second time in as many games for Everett, tying the game with just over five minutes left in regulation.  Goaltender Daniel Cotton earned the first win of his WHL career with 23 saves in net, and the ‘Tips killed off all six Brandon power plays.
