The more we advance through time, the more we can appreciate foundation. Right?
The Everett Silvertips, in the middle of the 2015-16 season, staged a photo shoot in advance of a unique, “Throwback Classic” on New Year’s Day, 2016 against the Kelowna Rockets in a matinee game, at downtown Everett.
Those jerseys – of a cream base and forest green trim – were auctioned off to the public while five “legends” models were added for a rare collector’s item (Mirco Mueller, Ryan Murray, Mitch Love, Peter Mueller, and Radko Gudas).
Look good, feel good, play good – it came true. The Silvertips beat the Rockets, the defending WHL champions, 3-1 behind Brycen Martin’s game winning goal – while Carter Hart only had to make 15 saves.
The Throwback Classic threads, a tribute in context to the WHL’s 50th anniversary season, were so popular they returned the following season in pearl white / forest green form for one game – then became the outfit of the Silvertips 15th anniversary season en route to the Western Conference title (a dark forest green / white trim jersey model was added, the attire for Kevin Davis’ OT goal in Game 6 at Tri-City).
Above in the gallery is the photoshoot the Silvertips staged, complete with vintage hockey equipment to complete the moment.
