After the regular season home finale against the Vancouver Giants at the Everett Events Center on Saturday night, the 2005-2006 U.S. Division Champions, Everett Silvertips held their 3rd annual Year End Awards to recognize a few of the outstanding individual performances during the 2005-2006 season.
Team MVP was awarded to forward John Lammers. The Langley, BC native posted single season franchise records in goals (38) and points (74). Lammers also recorded 3 hat tricks this season.
The Rookie of the Year Award was given to Peter Mueller. Mueller is currently 2nd in the WHL in rookie scoring with 56 points. The Bloomington, Minnesota native also is 2nd on the hockey club in goals scored with 24.
The Unsung Hero Award went to forward Karel Hromas. Hromas added 21 points for the Silvertips this season. The Beroun, Czech Republic native also was named to the Czech Republic World Junior squad earlier this season.
Silvertips defenseman Cody Thoring was named the Silvertips Community Relations Player of the Year and received the Silvertips Coaches Award. Thoring has donated his off ice time to many schools and churches in the Snohomish County area. This season the Swift Current, SK native has picked up 15 assists this season.
The Silvertips Iron Man Award was given to Jason Fransoo. Fransoo is the only Silvertips player to play in all 71 games this season. The North Battleford, SK native has recorded 3 goals and 13 assists this season.
Jonathan Harty received the Silvertips Scholastic Player of the Year Award. The Oromocto, NB native maintained a grade point average of 3.75 this season at Everett High School. On the ice, Harty has added 3 goals and 7 assists with a +12 rating this season.
The Most Improved Player Award was awarded to forward Ondrej Fiala. The Stenberk, Czech Republic native is tied for 3rd on the hockey club with 21 goals and 3rd on the team with 11 power play goals.
The Silvertips Booster Club handed out their FIERCE Predator Award to Torrie Wheat
The Silvertips will finish the 2005-2006 WHL campaign at Key Arena in Seattle as the Silvertips battle the Seattle Thunderbirds on Sunday, March 19 at 5:05 p.m.
